Only a few lamp patterns featuring a grape motif were designed by Tiffany Studios, and most were large cone shaped shades intended for use as chandelier fixtures. With its lush foliage and fully ripened grapes hanging realistically along the lower edge of the shade, the 18″ Grape is one of Tiffany’s most successful shade designs.
This design is one of four large 18″ tree-style shades created by Tiffany Studios which are used with the large Tree Trunk base. The tree style shades have a large cast bronze crown of openwork branches at the top. The tree style lamps, with integrated shades and bases, represent some of the earliest, most elaborate lamps designed by Tiffany Studios.
We used a wide variety of glasses to create the exciting coloration on this shade. Grapes in tones of blue, purple, burgundy, and red intermingle with the lush foliage, playfully dotting the surface of the shade. Commissioned by a client in Vermont, this grape lamp has a vibrant, lively presence.
