We created this 22″ Bamboo shade in 2006 and it is in a private collection. The background glass is a warm semitransparent amber glass and the leaves are a fresh green mixed with hints of yellow. The shade is shown on the Large Bamboo table base.
Bamboo shades are unique amongst Tiffany Studios’ lamp patterns because each leaf is heated in a kiln and slumped to conform to the curvature of the shade. By eliminating the horizontal lines that are usually needed to fit long pieces of glass to the curve of a lamp form, the plants depicted on the shade have a realistic look. The combination of shade and base are perfectly mated to create a lit sculpture.
