In December, we completed a new shade design for a local client. The 10″ Japanese Crests shade uses stylized motifs for the background, with ten different Japanese family crests, or Kamon, placed around the shade. Each symbol was hand painted and kiln fired. The crests indicate a family’s lineage and status from ancient times. The shade is shown on an antique base belonging to the client.
